The Blackwater Tusk (spire) adopted 13 July 1994 on 93H/8, as submitted by BC Forest Service, McBride. They say that some mountaineers have called this “The Needle.”
This spire is the most notable landmark visible from the well-travelled McBride Peak area, and an official name is required for communication purposes. “Blackwater” is the historic name for the nearby McKale River.
