The Resplendent valley “is without doubt an exceedingly fine valley,” wrote Arthur Wheeler after his 1911 exploration. “Its exceptional alpine qualities and position directly below Mt. Resplendent, which here rises in great black precipices, suggested the name ‘Resplendent Valley,’ a name that subsequent and more detailed knowledge will fully justify.”
